“You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:8-9

WOW! JOY, JOY, Glorious JOY! What is that? If you and I are believers in Jesus, “joy” is something we’re supposed to have. But, when do I feel it? When does it come?

A true believer’s joy is more than being happy. Happy is “feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.” But it comes and goes, right? From the same dictionary, joy is “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.” But in the Bible, joy is a lasting fruit of the Holy Spirit. It defies words. It even makes me strong.

Peter writes about an amazing, glorious, inexpressible joy that comes even when I don’t see Jesus, because I know I am receiving the end result of my faith - the salvation of my soul.

I’m getting an amazing FOREVER LIFE with God instead of a lousy end with horrible suffering. I’m getting Jesus’s all for me, in exchange for my inadequate, weak existence. That, Peter says, brings joy! When? When we reach out and take it!

THINK ABOUT IT:

• Read Peter’s verses above and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the completion of your salvation.

• Thank God out loud for your eternal salvation for at least five minutes.

• Thank God out loud for getting you through at least one tough or unpleasant situation in the last week. Thank Him for resolving something, bringing healing, having a nice meal, or a good time with family or friends.

JOY WILL GROW!
